Commutation of Death Row Individuals in Illinois

In 2002, Queer to the Left, along with other anti-death penalty organizations in the state of Illinois, succeeded in persuading then-Governor George Ryan to commute the sentences of all people on death row to life in prison without parole. We built a coalition of LGBTQ organizations and individuals in the state to “Come Out Against the Death Penalty.”
